Fallis-Dodd, Norma Jean

Norma Fallis Dodd
June 29, 1930 – April 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norma Fallis Dodd, who passed away on April 4, 2026, at the age of 95.

Norma was born on June 29, 1930, in Lyleton, Manitoba, to Bob and Gladys Moore. She grew up in the Lyleton farming district and attended school in Lyleton.

Norma moved to Souris in 1950. She worked for Dr. Glenn as a dental assistant until her marriage, after which she devoted her time to raising her family. In 1967, she began working at the Souris Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 1986.

Norma was deeply involved in her community. She was a charter member of the Royal Purple (1951) and later joined the Elks in 2004. She served as a 4-H leader, was a member of the Ladies’ Agricultural Society—receiving her 50-year plaque in 2002—and was a longtime member of the Souris Legion and the United Church Women (UCW). She also volunteered faithfully at the United Church Thrift Shop.

On June 14, 1952, Norma married Morley Fallis in Lyleton. Together they operated a mixed farm two miles east and two miles north of Souris. In addition to grain farming, they raised 100 head of registered Hereford cattle, known throughout Manitoba, along with ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, and horses. Morley passed away on June 3, 1976.

Norma later married Jack Dodd in 1979 in Souris. Together they built three homes, spent winters in Arizona and Hawaii, travelled throughout Canada, and enjoyed many summers at their cottage at Oak Lake.

Norma will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and compassion. She enjoyed golfing, travelling, tending her flower gardens, curling, baseball, and horse racing, and was especially known for her dedication to the Souris community.

Norma was a much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is lovingly remembered by her children Bob Fallis (Elizabeth), Caroline Blanke, and Brent Fallis (Iris); her stepchildren Sue (Joe) Hebert, Reg (Edie) Dodd, and Gail (Lloyd) Will; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Morley Fallis (June 3, 1976); her husband Jack Dodd (March 6, 2012); her sister Doreen (George) (February 6, 2016); her son-in-law Jerry Blanke (March 9, 2023); and her stepdaughter Diane (Craig) Turner (December 12, 2023).

A funeral service was held on April 18, 2026 at St. Paul’s United Church, Souris, with interment following at the Souris-Glenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Souris Elks Club Playground Fund.

The family would like to thank the staff of Souris Hospital and Personal Care Home, Dr. David Cram, and the many other healthcare professionals for their care and compassion.

Norma will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
