Linda Diane Teetaert (King)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother Linda. Linda passed away peacefully with her family at her side on November 10, 2019 at the Souris Health Centre following her courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was one of six children born to Willis and Helen King. She was born on April 16, 1952. She lived in, and attended school in Souris. Linda worked in Souris, and Brandon prior to settling on the farm after her marriage to Walter on January 15, 1972. Linda and Walter welcomed their first son Brent William in 1972, and their second Brian Glen in 1974. This completed their family, and they lived and raised their boys on the farm.
Throughout Linda’s life she worked while raising her boys. Over the years she was involved with the Royal Purple, Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the curling club, the dart club, the horticultural society, and the Eastern Star.
Among Linda’s greatest accomplishments was her completion of Grade 12 in 2007. She then went on to become a certified Health Care Aide, and worked in both Souris and Hartney Personal Care Homes. Linda loved working with the elderly, and her patience, love, and compassion suited her role as a care giver perfectly. She loved her job, and worked at the Hartney Community Health Centre until her retirement.
The highlight of Linda’s life was the birth of her twin grandchildren, Janessa and Brayden. Grandma was very supportive in all the activities the kids were involved in. Hockey, ball, volleyball, swimming, school presentations, and everything in between. Linda was an avid hockey fan and attended and cheered on both Janessa and Brayden at all their hockey games. She loved the Winnipeg Jets and was able to fulfill one of her goals when she attended a game in Winnipeg with Brian.
Along with hockey, Linda loved crocheting, and enjoyed making baby blankets and sweaters for family and friends. Puzzle books and reading were also things she enjoyed in her spare time. Linda’s dogs were also a big part of her life. There was always one, sometimes two dogs at the farm. She loved them all, and enjoyed taking the little ones camping with her during the summer.
Linda is predeceased by her parents Willis and Helen King, her son Brent, step father Jack, brothers Dennis and Norman, sisters Elaine and Cathy, mother and father in law Amiel and Jeanne, and sister in law and brother in law Ed and Laura Chaban. Those left to mourn her passing are: her husband Walter, son Brian, daughter in law Angie, grandchildren Janessa and Brayden, brother Randy (Marnie) King, and his family, brother in law Ron Runions and his family, nephews and great nephews, neices and great neices, cousins, and many dear friends.
If so desired, donations can be made in Linda’s memory to Souris Palliative Care c/o Prairie Mountain Health Box 10 Souris, Manitoba R0K 2C0 or to Cancer Care Manitoba.
