Winslow, Alice Rose

Alice Rose Winslow (née Shantz), age 97, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.

She is survived by her son Scott (Amber) and two grandsons Ben and Tommy (Judith), who were her pride and joy, along with their mother Sylvie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Alice was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Violet Shantz, her husband Charles Winslow, and siblings Loretta, Verna, Vernon, and Darlene.

Alice was born in Plunkett, SK on August 26, 1928. In her teens, while attending school in Portage, Alice met and became close friends with Rose Winslow, and through her met her future husband Charlie. They corresponded during his service near the end of WWII. Alice was working in Saskatoon when Charlie returned from the war and travelled to see her. Alice and Charles married in 1947 and moved around different locations in Manitoba before finally settling on the Winslow farm south of Souris in 1954, where their son Scott was born in 1963.

Alice was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed reading, birds, gardening and flowers. She adored her Grandsons, and loved having them come to stay at the farm during the summer holidays.  She valued her service to the Women’s Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion #60 (Souris). She served for over 40 years in several roles including president.

A celebration of life service for Alice will be held at Kowalchuk’s funeral home, Souris, Manitoba, on January 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Private interment in the Souris-Glenwood Cemetery at a later date.
