Smutko, Donald Allen

Donald Allen Smutko

January 19, 1955- December 3, 2025

With deepest sorrow the family announces the passing of Don Smutko on December 3, 2025 in Souris, Manitoba at the age of 70. After a courageous long, hard battle with cancer, he is finally at peace and pain free.

Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife Judy Smutko of 14 years and his children, Sarah, Kelsey (Justin), Alicia (Reid) and Ryan (Trisha). He leaves behind his much loved grandchildren Grace, Makayla, Owen, Genevieve, Kaitlin and Jack. Don is also survived by his brother Randy Smutko (Crystal), his sister-in-law Terry and his nieces and nephews.

Don was predeceased by his parents Nick Smutko (Josie) and Kay Miller (Fred) and also by his brother Gary.

Don was a master builder all his life, from framing and custom homes to furniture, you name it , he could build it. His craftsmanship was perfection and nothing less was acceptable for Don. He also had a love for restoring vehicles and he rebuilt and customized his lifted GMC K15 truck to perfection. Don was always looking for “the next project”, whether it be around the house or on his truck, right up to the day of his passing. He was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone and everyone, and will be remembered for exaggerated story telling with his unique one of a kind sense of humour.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date. Notifications will be posted prior to the service. In memory of Don, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

His life, a blessing, his memory, a treasure, loved beyond word, missed by everyone, beyond measure.

Don will forever be missed by all that had the privilege to know him.
