Fenwick, Donald Noble

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Noble Fenwick.  Don passed away peacefully at the Souris Health Center on April 7, 2026 with family by his side. Don was born in Souris Manitoba on October 18, 1950. Don and his twin brother Doug were raised on a farm southwest of Carroll. In his younger years, Don played pony, colt and little league ball at Carroll and was involved in the 4H Swine Club. He attended school in Carroll for grades 1-8 and Souris for grades 9-12.

During the summer after his high school graduation in 1968, he worked for Willanbea Seeds and in the fall of that year he moved to Winnipeg where he worked for the Manitoba Government in the Purchasing Bureau. In the fall of 1971, he moved to Brandon and worked for MacArthur and Son Ltd as a truck driver.

In September of 1972 he married Donna Copeland of Bunclody and they made their home in Brandon.  In the spring of 1973, they moved to Bunclody where Don worked with his father-in-law on the Copeland family farm eventually purchasing it. Don and Donna continued to operate it as a mixed grain and cattle farm for the next 27 years.

Don started driving with Arnold Bros Transport in 1990 and over the next few years, had several trucking jobs with local businesses and eventually bought his own truck in 2002.  One of his favourite places to be was in the cab of an 18-wheeler, but his pride and joy was his black 1995 Kenworth.

Shortly after Don and Donna moved to Bunclody, they became very involved in the Carroll and Bunclody communities.  Don was involved with the Carroll Curling Rink, and over the years many evenings were spent curling, while many bonspiels were attended in Elgin.  He also enjoyed the time spent out with the guys snowmobiling and getting together with friends and family for an evening playing cards or just having a visit.  He treasured the years he spent playing ball with the Bunclody Blues and was happy to be involved with the reunion the ball team had in 2024.

In September of 2005, Don and Donna moved to Souris and their son Mark took over the farm.  Not ready to start retirement yet, Don hauled campers from the eastern United States back to Canadian destinations. He also enjoyed employment with the RM of Glenwood, MLK Construction and Brian Rowe.

In 2010 Don decided to fully retire, he loved to golf in the summers and looked forward to the mornings playing pool with the guys in the basement of Hillcrest Museum.  Don and Donna enjoyed camping at various locations around Manitoba and looked forward to their visits with Mark and Karen in the Northwest Territories and British Columbia. Some memorable trips were made to Jamacia, Alaska, Mexico, Tennessee, Alabama, New York, Texas and Arizona.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Donna, son Mark and daughter Karen, mother Ileen, brother Doug and his wife Helen, sisters– in – laws Arlene Page and Cheryl Carrier (Mike) along with several nieces and nephews.  Don was predeceased by his father Noble Fenwick and his mother and father- in-law, Diff and Girlie Copeland.

A memorial reception for family and friends was held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at St Paul’s United Church Auditorium in Souris, MB with a private internment at the Carroll Cemetery.

In memory of Don, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or to the Souris Hospital Palliative Care Fund c/o Prairie Mountain Health, Box 10, Souris, Manitoba, R0K 2C0

Our hearts have been touched by all the condolences and expressions of sympathy we have received.  We are truly grateful to be a part of such an amazing and caring community.

The family would like to thank Dr. Beaupre and Dr. Cram for their exceptional care. To the staff at the Souris Hospital your professionalism, compassion and loving care did not go unnoticed. Thanks also Dr. Kristjanson and Dr. Yang from Cancer Care Manitoba. Thanks to Dexter and Kowalchuk’s Funeral Home for their support and guidance during this difficult time.
