McCulloch: William James. Jim was born April 26, 1934,in Souris, Manitoba. The only son of William Bruce and Amelia Elisabeth (Medlicott) McCulloch. Jim was raised in the Lily District where he received his first eight grades of education at the Lily School. Following this he went to Elgin Consolidated high school and to the University of Manitoba, receiving his diploma in Agriculture in 1954. He then worked on the farm with his parents until 1969 when his parents retired to Hartney. He married Pansy (Pat) Jean Hyatt and continued to farm until 1982 when the farm was sold and he and Pat moved to Souris. He worked part time for various farmers and the Souris Valley School Division where he drove a bus until 1994 when ill health caused him to retire early. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as hobby projects in his shop. Jim will be missed by his step children and their families and numerous cousins. A graveside service was held at the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery on May 6, 2017. In memory of Jim, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
My condolences to Carol, Lynn, Laurel and Grant on the passing of your stepfather, Jim. I do not know where Jim stood in his faith, but I do hope to see him again. I remember the many cups of coffee he drank in Chicken Delight when Jack Denbow was the owner and Jim always seemed to have a good sense of humor….. always recognized his laugh coming from the back table.
Once again, my sympathies go out to each one of you.
Sincere sympathy to the family. I got to know Jim years ago when he drove school bus, and I was saddened to hear of his passing. I always enjoyed and respected his honest opinion and the fact he was such a common sense guy. May memories sustain you all. I just wanted to say, “they don’t make them like Jim anymore!”
