Davis — Irwin, 85 years. It is with deep sadness that the family of Irwin Davis announces the unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Born Arthur Irwin Davis on September 19, 1928 to Arthur and Charlotte Davis in Hamiota, Manitoba and passed away on December 27, 2013 at the Souris Personal Care Home . Irwin spent his childhood in Hamiota. He married Verna Tyler September 4,1954. Dad and Mom raised six children , Laurie(David) ,Bonnie(Robert),Rose Marie(David),Jack(Doris),Susan(Jim), and Tyler(Kathy). He was Grandpa to Jennifer, Lana, Ryan,Erin,Sean,Dale,Carli,Brenna,Julia,Justin,Charmaine,and step grandchildren , Jennifer and Christopher and great grandpa to 15 great grandchildren with #16 on the way. Dad worked for 32 years for CNR doing track maintenance. Mom and Dad lived in several small communities finally settling in Hartney for 45 years. Hartney was home. After retiring , Dad opened the Hartney Shoe Repair store where he fixed everything from shoes and boots, to hockey gloves, to tents and tarps . He was innovative, creating and fixing everything. Dad could fix almost anything !! Dad loved sports! He loved to play baseball, golf, curl, play pool and watched all kinds of sports on TV. Dad loved to play bingo, all sorts of card games and spend lots of time with family. Dad loved to knit and many, many people have received knitted items from him . Dad spent his final years at Souris PCH where he continued to knit and play cards and keep everyone smiling ! Dad had an awesome smile and great sense of humour. His smile and laughter will be missed and remembered always . A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Souris Personal Care home for their awesome care of Dad during his final years. In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to Souris Personal Care Home or Charity of your choice .

Our sincere sympathy to you Verna and families on the passing of Mr. Davis. I have such fond memories of great visits with him in his store. He was one of those who I greatly respected for his views and ideas in helping to keep Hartney going.
