Gray, John

Gray: It is with great sadness we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of John (Jack) Gray on June 22, 2021 at his home in Souris at the age of 83. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Muriel, their children Jackie (Teresa) Gray and Marion Murphy; their grandchildren Alexandra (Jeremy), Luanne (Brett), Alana (Austin), Andrew (Jill) and Everett (Tori) as well as Teresa’s children Teagan (Jesse) and Carter (Peter) along with one great-grandchild, Will.

Jack was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where he farmed until the family immigrated to Canada in 1982.  After a few years of farming at Souris, Jack worked at a variety of different places, most recently and for many years, with Double Diamond Farm Supply at Minto.  Jack was always a farmer at heart and truly enjoyed working with all the Double Diamond staff to support the farmers in the area.  He was also a fount of useful – and useless – information and we will miss the stories and wisdom he could impart on a wide range of topics and life experiences.  He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

A private graveside service was held at the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery on June 26, 2021.

In memory of John, donations may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
