Iris Matilda Perrin (nee Clark) September 28, 1922 – September 16, 2024
It is with sadness and much love that the family announces the passing of Iris Matilda Perrin, just 12 days shy of her 102nd birthday. She was a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother & friend.
She was predeceased by her parents Millie & Wilfred, husband, Douglas (2007) and son, Larry (2008). She will be remembered by her children, Lorne Perrin (Verna), Sharon Arnold, daughter-in-law Linda Perrin; her grandchildren Kevin Perrin (Stacey), Deanna Kowalchuk, Heather Fraser (James), Christopher Arnold, Michael Perrin (Kelsey), Curtis Perrin; great grandchildren -Sheldon & Adam Kowalchuk, Rhett , Rory, & Ryler Perrin, Fin, & Brecken Fraser, Rome, & Niko Perrin, and great, great granddaughter Bria.
Iris was an only child born to Millie & Wilfred Clark of Spy Hill, Saskatchewan. When she was a mere 2 years old, her mother succumbed to TB and her father was very ill as he was “gassed” when he served in both world wars. Iris was raised by Aunt Jessie & Uncle Charlie Odgers & family. Iris met Doug Perrin, and they married on May 3, 1947. Soon they started a family and lived on the farm in Spy Hill. After the birth of their sons, the family moved to Strathclair, Manitoba where they had their daughter. The family then moved to Souris, Manitoba where they spent their remaining years.
Iris was a stay-at-home Mother but was involved in a number of groups that the children were involved with including the Scouting Group Committee and Figure Skating Group. The one sport that was dear to her was curling, she participated and enjoyed it on television. She also undertook a few part-time jobs from time to time.
One of her joys was her knitting and over the years she made sweaters, toques, scarves, mittens and newborn baby items that she donated to the cause.
The family extends thanks to Dr. Cram & the nurses and the staff of the Souris Personal Care home.
A private graveside service was held at the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery. In memory of Iris, donations may be made to the Souris Personal Care Home Courtyard Fund c/o Prairie Mountain Health Box 10 Souris, Manitoba R0K 2C0.
