Rae, Dennis Edward

Rae: Dennis: November 6, 1931 ~ April 24, 2016

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father Dennis Edward Rae at the age of 84 years, after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s disease at the St. Boniface Hospital.

He will be forever missed by his children; Ken (Carolyn), Colleen (Perry), Shannon (Jim), his grandchildren Trevor (Danielle), Jason (Luanne), Jennifer, James and his two great grandchildren Sophie and Emma. He will also be missed by his siblings; Nina (Chuck), Connie (Nick) and Dorothy.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Catherine Rae, his three wives; Dorothy, Mina and Joyce and also predeceased by his siblings; Frank, Les, Peter, Jean, Tina, Annie and Elsie.

Dad was born in Two Creeks, Manitoba, and spent his growing years in that locale living and working on their farm with his ten other siblings.

In Souris Manitoba dad met the love of his life Dorothy, whom he married in 1954. Through the years they added more love to their lives with Ken, Colleen and Shannon.

Dad worked as a heavy equipment operator for 42 years for the Municipality of Glenwood. As retirement drew closer, Mom succumbed to breast cancer, leaving dad on his own.

Retirement was a struggle until he met Mina whom he married and spent ten wonderful years together traveling the world and enjoying life to the fullest. Mina passed away and Dad was alone again. He met Joyce who he loved dearly and they married in 2011 in Las Vegas and spent a short life together. She passed away in the spring of 2012.

Dad moved to assisted living at Sterling House in Winnipeg. He loved his days there enjoying his music by playing guitar and harmonica, like never before. He was always willing to entertain anyone who cared to enjoy it with him.

Our fondest memories of Dad were at our family holiday get-togethers, where he never missed out on many chuckles.

Dad was a kind-hearted gentle soul, and will always be remembered for his sweet nature.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Emergency, who are truly angels in disguise.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Dennis’s life was held at Faith Community Baptist Church in Souris, Manitoba on Saturday May 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. A Private interment in the Souris — Glenwood Cemetery will take place.
