  1. We both are saddened to hear of Myrt’s passing. Myrt and Jim introduced us and both proposed the toast to us at our wedding August 3, 1974. In our early years at Souris as new (and single) teachers, the Refvik home was always open to us and was a constant source of support and good fun. We cannot think of those times without referring to Myrt’s cooking. In no time, always delicious meals would appear seemingly with magic. She was a superb cook. But, most of all, she was a good friend, full of life, laughter and loving support. Our many trips together to the States are fond memories. We are thinking of Jim, Coralee, Kurt and Mitch and their families. Much love to you all, Jeff and Judy Carter

  2. My deepest sympathy to your family.
Myrt was my first Principal to work under and even though it was for a short time, I learned much from her. She was a very unique woman who enjoyed every day.

I was saddened to hear of Myrt’s passing. My deepest sympathy to you all. I have such fond memories of when we were neighbours and especially cherish the time I worked with Myrt at the colony. It was during those years that I enjoyed getting to know you both better. The friendship and support you both gave me is truly appreciated. I will always hold a great deal of respect and fondness for Myrt.

    With love and sympathy,

  5. Dear Mr. Refvik:
My heartfelt condolences on your wife’s passing. She, along with other
women in the Souris community, helped make my bridal shower the success it was, oh so many years ago (soon to be 32 yrs.!) Also,I appreciate the positive role you played as my English teacher, pushing me to take on literary works that weren’t easy but were ultimately rewarding. So much so, that I majored in English Lit. later on at University!
May treasured memories give you comfort in this difficult time.
