Robbins, Candace Rhea

Candace Robbins (nee McBrien)

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Candy. Candy passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the age of 67 years old. Candy was surrounded by loved ones in her final days.

She is survived by her son Rob (Carla) and daughter Sam. She was an incredibly proud Nana to her grand-children, Oren and Payton, and their mother Annie. Candy will also leave behind her brother Brent and sisters Tracy (Clarence) and Jeanie; nieces and nephews Meghan, Curtis, and Colin. Candy was predeceased by her parents, Laverne and Jean McBrien.

Candy was born on September 5, 1957 in Crystal City, Manitoba. Candy often spoke of the friends she made, and family outings she remembered growing up. After high school, Candy moved into Winnipeg to find out quickly the city life wasn’t for her and moved back to Crystal City where she worked at the hotel. She always had a smile for the customers and was a friend to all she served. Candy’s own family started when her son Rob was born, then followed some years later by her daughter Sam. Candy and her family settled in Souris.  Candy loved the comfort of home life and would often be found with her furry companion, Rosa, and a coffee on the deck, waving to neighbours or visiting with friends.

If you had the opportunity to speak with Candy, you would definitely know about her grand-children, Oren and Payton. Candy would speak about them with a twinkle in her eye, and boast about how she was the luckiest Nana, and confidently brag about their accomplishments.  They were truly the light in her life.

Candy touched many lives and will be missed greatly. We will miss the big smile walking through the door and the boisterous laugh at something silly.

Candy wished for no funeral service but will be celebrated by family at a later date.

In memory of Candy, donations may be made to the Souris Health Centre Palliative Care Fund c/o Prairie Mountain Health Box 10 Souris, Manitoba R0K 2C0 or to the Brandon Humane Society.
