Briggs: Frances Myra Briggs (Mitchell)
Mom passed away July31, 2022 at the Souris Hospital.
Mom was born on July 21st, 1928 in Hartney Manitoba at Mrs. Forbes’s nursing home.
She lived on the farm at Melgund Manitoba and went to Melgund School across the road until she was 16. She attended Hartney School until she graduated from grade 12. After graduating, she went to Brandon Business College for 6 months. She wanted to go to nursing school, however it was too expensive to go.
After business school, she worked for the Bank of Montreal in Hartney. She was paid 90.00/month of which 40.00 went to room and board.
She met Bud Briggs at a dance at the school and in 1950, March 29, they were married.
They lived on the “farm on the hill” (section 13-5-23) until the fall of 1951. Soon the children began to arrive; Edward, Debra, Sandra, Robert and Heather.
In 1984, she fulfilled a dream of hers and graduated from nursing school in Brandon.
Mom always enjoyed the family and spending time with friends. She was loved greatly and will be missed for her wit and humour.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bud and daughter, Debbie
She is survived by Edward Briggs (Brenda), Fred Synder (husband to Debra), Sandra King (Fred), Robert Briggs(Teresa), Heather Shuster( Harley). Grandchildren; Edward, Bradley, Sanfred, Wheaton, Cynthia, Mitchell, Jennifer and Jordan. She also has 5 great grandchildren. From all the family thank-you to Dr. David Cram, Hartney PCH Head Nurse Lorie and all the staff, and the Souris Hospital Palliative Care staff for the professional and personal care provided to our Mom.
A private graveside service was held at the Riverside Cemetery, Hartney. In Lieu of cards/flowers, a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Sincere condolences to the Briggs family. Myra was such an inspiration to me during my early days at Atkinson Implements and I owed her so much. Cherish her memory as I will too!
Grew up in Hartney and knew Myra to be a kind and caring person. (I also remember her parents the Mitchells -Mrs. Mitchell and my Mom Jessie Morden had many fond visits.) During the 2002? homecoming, Bud noticed our name on the camper, and stopped by in his car for a wee visit! Short visit with Myra in Motel Cafe about 2019 as we stopped for vacation coffee with my sister Shirley, etc. Shirley knew her well and sends her condolences also. Blessings! Edith (Morden) Tarbet, Barrhead, AB
My deepest condolences to the Briggs Family, your Mom was a very kind hearted person. I have many fond memories at the Briggs home!
Our condolences to your family as I only found out today (aug 27th) that your mom had passed away.
She was a very dear friend and next door neighboor to us in the 60’s. Always made a point of paying her a visit on my yearly trip to MB. A great lady indeed!.
Regards from
Rosemarie (need Hardy/Morrison) and her family
