Howe, Donald Leslie

Howe: Donald (Hoop) Leslie, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2018 at the age of 74 years.

He is survived by his wife Lana, stepson Grant (Lisa), grandchildren Chloe and Connor, stepson Gowan (Rosa) grandchildren Gowie and Adrian; sister Bev (Mike), brothers Lorie (Laura) and Gary (Shirley) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Don was predeceased by his parents Syd and Lena, sister Darlene, brothers Ken and Allen.

Don spent most of his life farming and working on farms in the Elgin area, except for a brief time working in Edmonton.

Don married his wife of twenty years Lana, in 1997. He enjoyed being a stepfather to Grant and Gowan and was proud to be a grandfather.

Don was a chartered member of the Elgin and Area Lion’s Club. He held many positions over the years and was in charge of the recycling depot. He participated in all volunteer functions of the club.

Don enjoyed curling in Elgin for many years as well as playing in bonspiels in the surrounding area. Don got great pleasure from watching his favorite sports teams on T.V. and was a major Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and of the Winnipeg Jets. He was fortunate to watch his beloved Blue Jays in Toronto, Minneapolis and Kansas City.

Don was a kind and quiet man and will be dearly missed by all.  Expression of sympathy may be made at www.kowalchuks.net

Funeral service was held at the Elgin United Church, Elgin, Manitoba on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 followed by an interment in the Elgin Cemetery. In memory of Don, donations may be made to the Souris Hospital Palliative Care Fund c/o Prairie Mountain Health Box 10 Souris, Manitoba R0K 2C0.
