Rice: John, 14 years, beloved son of Mike and Cora-Lee Rice, passed away at his home near Carroll, Manitoba on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. A celebration of John’s life for family and friends was held at the Carroll Cemetery, on Friday, August 19, 2022 followed by at time of food and refreshments at the Carroll Hall. In memory of John, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

My favorite memory of this young man, is when he was over at my house, and he bursts into the living room and says to my son “LETS GO JUMP ON THE TRAMPOLINE!!” With such enthusiasm and light and shine in his eyes. Both boys laughed all the way to the trampoline and jumped for over an hour, laughing the whole time. They come back inside to quicky get a drink and get changed so they could then go swimming in the pool, where they proceeded to get water EVERYWHERE. Having so much fun. To then proceed to get right back on the trampoline and jump for another hour, until they tuckered themselves out. This was only 2 years ago, but I remember it like yesterday.
Rest easy sweet boy. You are missed so very much.

John has had a special place in my heart since he spent a year in my Kindergarten class. I remember his almost constant smile, his eagerness to tell stories & his frequent spontaneous hugs. Even after he moved on from Kindergarten, John would take the time to give me a quick hug when he would see me in the hallway. As he progressed through Middle Years, his hugs changed to the question “Do you still remember me?”, to which I would respond, “Of course I do, John!”, and he would smile in return.
The news of John’s death has made my heart hurt especially for him, his parents, his extended family & friends. It also hurt for our school family. There will be a hole when we return to school this fall that cannot be filled by anyone else.
I am praying for comfort and peace for those who love & knew John the best as they navigate this very difficult time.
Mike & Cora Lee, there are no words one can say, but just thinking of you both through this tragic loss. John was such a great person and leaves fond happy memories to all who met him.
