Bette Lynne Williams Brewer (72) passed away with family by her side at the Souris Hospital on June 11, 2018. Bette was born September 22, 1945 in Brandon and was the chosen daughter of the late Charles and Mae Williams. She was predeceased by her brother Dale Williams and her husband Russ McLeod.
Bette grew up on the family farm and later moved to Brandon where she worked for Binkley Motors before travelling to Winnipeg where she furthered her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She returned to Brandon to work as a nurse and it was here she met her husband Russ McLeod. Russ and Bette were married in 1974 and enjoyed 32 years of marriage Bette and Russ spent 6 years of their life in Saudi Arabia and enjoyed numerous travel trips over that time frame. Bette and Russ moved back to Winnipeg in 1986 and Bette returned to nursing and provided comfort and care for over 30 years. Bette and Russ enjoyed camping, music and spending time with family. She loved spending time on their boat and had a green thumb for growing flowers. Bette was an avid Jets and Goldeyes fan and enjoyed golfing and bridge/ card games. She loved to volunteer for curling bonspiels and was a strong supporter for the Salvation Army. Bette was the biggest fan of her grandchildren’s and her cousins hockey/ringette/ball teams and spent many hours travelling to games and events. Bette loved animals and in particular her cats. In 2014 Bette retired from nursing. She was so full of life and lived it to the fullest as long as she could. With failing health Bette lived in Winnipeg with Bevanee, Don and family before moving back to the Souris area.
Bette is survived by her brother Gary (Mary) Williams, sister-in-law Marilyn Williams, as well as her step-daughter Bevanee (Don)Kozun, Brucein (Ron) Woodfield), Rory (Jennifer) McLeod, five grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on June 30, 2018 at Faith Community Baptist Church, Souris, MB at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to do so.
