It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Willard Glen Spratt on January 4, 2022. He was the second of four children born to Willard and Marjorie (St. John) Spratt of Elgin Manitoba on April 25, 1931. William Fraser (Bill) Good passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Souris Personal Care Home on Tuesday December 28, 2021. Bill was predeceased by his wife Deb Good and parents Bill and Helen Good. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his four sons Barry (Laura), Craig (Tanya), Derek (Stephanie), Glenn (Nicole), as well as grandsons Braeden, Josh, Cash and Ryder. Thomas (Tom) Mills Aitken was born August 5, 1940 to parents Andrew and Annie Aitken. Tom passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on December 24, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Tom was predeaced by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Agnes and Jack Stillwell. After the passing of Tom’s father, Tom and his mother immigrated to Canada from Glasgow, Scotland and settled in the Elgin area. Tom graduated from the Elgin School and lived in various places
On November 27, 2021, 21 with heavy hearts we said Good-bye to our Mom, Verbena Mae Turnbull at Hartney Community Health Centre. Mom was born September 17, 1940 at Souris Hospital to Eddie & Eva Maguire, the youngest of 8. She was predeceased by her dance partner and husband, Howard Turnbull. Her brothers; Melford, Jack, George and his wife Jean, and her beloved sister Gwenda (married to Bob Hughes). Brother in law, Arnold Sagman (married to sister Eileen). Elizabeth-Jean Margaret Kohut, lovingly known as Bette-Jean sadly passed away on November 17, 2021, her 78th birthday at Brandon Regional Health Center. Bette-Jean was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 17, 1943. She settled in Souris after graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1964 when she married, farmer Jim Kohut in 1966.
Bette-Jean’s record of achievements is too long to list. Her family is proud of each and every one of these accomplishments as she set very high standards
Skoc: Alex, 76 years, beloved husband of the late Gladys Skoc, father of Dwayne, Trevor, Kim and Susan, passed away at the Souris Personal Care Home on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Dooley: Maurice, 85 years, beloved husband of Georgina Dooley, father of Elroy, Maureen, Connie, Sandra and Morley, passed away at the Souris Personal Care Home on Monday, October 18, 2021. Mason: Charles (Charlie) Thomas Mason passed away on October 14th, 2021, at the age of 90, at the Souris Personal Care Home. Charlie was born September 14th, 1931 in Wauchope, Saskatchewan to Albert and Stella Mason. He was the eldest of 6 children. His siblings were Amy, Elsie, Eva, George and Fred. He grew up in Antler, SK and made the railroad his career, working for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a section man from 1951- 1986.
On September 16th, 1961, Charlie married Mabel Gudbranson
Unrau: John Unrau passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021 after a brief time in the Souris Hospital at the age of 97. John was a simple man. He valued his family, his friends and his community. John had an incredible will to live. He believed in hard work and conducted himself with honesty and integrity.
Predeceased by his wife Anne in 2009, he will be missed by his children Bob (Judy) and Joanne (Harold), his four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

James Allan Polwarth ‘Al’ was born on a farm north of Melita (previously Broomhill) in June of 1927; the only child of Jim and Jean Polwarth. Dad started school in Broomhill, although he admitted he was not a regular attendee and went as far as Grade 8.
Dad worked as a grain buyer for Ogilvie Elevators, later sold to Manitoba Pool Elevators, until he moved to Souris in November of 1949. He applied to work as a trainman in Minnedosa, but was told there was more opportunity in Souris
