Coe, Dorothy Myrtle

(July 17, 1931 – August 26, 2012)

COE: Dorothy Myrtle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on August 26, 2012. She is survived by her husband, Wilfred, her sons, Taylor “Jim” (Gaye), and Wilfred “Brad” (Lorna), sister, Elaine Taylor, and grandchildren, Robert, Kevin, Melissa (Scott), Teresa, Julie, Timothy (Chantal) and one great grandchild, Keanna. She is predeceased by her father, Robert John Taylor, mother Ellen Taylor- McBurney, and sister Phyllis. Dorothy was born on July 17th, 1931 and grew up on the family farm in Hartney. She attended Business College in Brandon where she met her husband, Wilfred. In 1962, the young couple took over the family farm in Hartney, where they worked for many years. Dorothy was always determined to learn and she obtained a Licensed Practical Nursing degree at the age of 62. Following this, she worked at the Hartney Health Unit. Dorothy was an active member of the community and was a member of many organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star, board member of Boissevain Mentally Handicapped Association, Prairie Partners and Anglican Ladies. Dorothy and Wilfred enjoyed many years square dancing with the Elgin Whitewater Whirlers. Dorothy will be sadly missed; she was a compassionate and active member of her beloved hometown and a pillar of wisdom to her family. “Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, As God calls us one by one, our chain will link again. Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Centennial Centre with interment in the Riverside Cemetery Hartney, Manitoba. Donations may be made to the Cancer Care Manitoba.
