Burnett, Douglas Gordon Wayne

Douglas Gordon Wayne Burnett – Was born April 23/1958 in Souris, Manitoba to Howard and Jean (Howell) Burnett.

Doug peacefully passed away on October 7/2016 with his best friend and companion of 10 years his dog Mandy and four loving sisters Norma, Della, Sheila and Rhonda by his side at the Assiniboine Centre Hospital in Brandon. Doug was predecease by his mother Jean in 2001 and his father Howard in 1991.

The family left Souris in 1959 and moved to Forrest, Manitoba for a short time

Thelma Mary Basiuk, nee Banks was born October 10, 1929 in Elva, Manitoba. She grew up in Elva with her two sisters, Gwen and Barbara and her brother Ron. Always active, this was before the days of girls playing softball so she played baseball with her brother Ron. Determined that she would play with them, she did not let on how their throws hurt her hand and vowed that she would throw hard enough to make them respect her arm. Bertholet: Edward (Ebby) John Frank passed away on September 18, 2015 at the Souris Health Centre. Ebby was born on September 27, 1935 to the late Mary (Heape) and Frank Bertholet. He was the second oldest in a family of seven boys and three girls. His childhood was spent growing up in the Deleau area. Ebby married Alice (Vodon) on December 1, 1956. Brown, Ruth Marion

Brown, Ruth Marion passed away at the Souris Personal Care Home on February 19, 2015 in her 98th year. She was born on April 4, 1916 in Morden Manitoba to Ernest and Mary (Bayliss) McElroy. She and her siblings Phyllis, Robert and Ross moved to Souris at a very young age where she started school and graduated in 1937.

In 1939 she enrolled in the nursing program at the Souris Memorial Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse in 1942. Classmates and colleagues would remain friends for life.

Brown, John Clement

John C. Brown passed peacefully at the Souris Personal Care Home on January 9, 2015.  He was 96 years old.  He was born the youngest of 6 children in 1918, raised in the Hayfield/Carroll district and lived there until 1956 when he moved to a farm 3 miles west of Souris.  John farmed there and drove school bus until their retirement to Souris in 1986.

In 1947, he married Zayda Lytle of High Bluff, Manitoba and together raised a family of 4 sons.

Pierre was the oldest child of 12.  Born August 2, 1928, to Clement and Cecile (nee Cancade) in Grande Clairiere, MB.  Pierre was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jacques, and his sister, Marie Marcq.
