It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our loving mother, Shirley Kathleen Harkness (Fernell) on June 24th, 2014 at the age of 91. Shirley was born in Gainsborough, SK. on February 28th, 1923 to Myrtle and Percy Fernell of Carnduff, SK. She was one of eight children. JASPER – Garfield Robson Jasper was born on a farm north of Hartney on July 26, 1925 to Norman and Gertrude Jasper. He attended school in Deleau and worked for his father on the family farm. The 2nd World War was on and when Garfield turned 18, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was sent to Lethbridge, AB for training. Garfield was trained in navigation, Morse code and radio operation. He was discharged with rank of Sergeant and never saw action as the war ended. After the war,

They were married on June 1, 1942 days before Hank went overseas to serve in World War II; when he returned at the end of the War they took up residence in Souris, where Hank was employed at the School as custodian where he worked until retiring at age 65.
